The Ridge Sunday Audio
Forward - Part 3
Episode Summary
This passage is an introduction to Jesus' end times discourse as given to His disciples. The Pharisees ask about the kingdom of God. They want independence from Rome, but they don't think a carpenter from Nazareth can make it happen. Jesus tries to make them see that God's Kingdom has arrived and is advanced forward by His people.
Episode Notes
READ TOGETHER:
Luke 17:20-21
DISCUSS:
- What is the Kingdom of God? What did Jesus mean by saying the Kingdom of God is in the midst of you?
- Is the Kingdom of God here and now? Or is it something we are waiting for? Or is it both? How does this perspective challenge traditional expectations of a kingdom?
- Why do you think the Pharisees were focused on external signs?
- When we consider our choices, actions, words, and daily habits, are there any places where we have failed to acknowledge the kingdom of God like the Pharisees? In what ways can we experience the presence of the kingdom within ourselves?
- In what ways can we help advance the Kingdom of God on earth? What things in this world distract us from fulfilling our role of helping advance the Kingdom of God?
