We’ve all been quoted this passage by someone, and even by those who don’t even claim to be Christians. Jesus teaching on judgment isn’t a call to abandoned discernment, or a licensure to do whatever we want. Instead, He is calling us to discern fairly without reducing someone’s humanity while trusting God is the ultimate judge.
READ:
Matthew 7:1-6 ∙ Romans 12 ∙ 1 Peter 2 +3
DISCUSS:
● What are some things we’re drawn to judge others over?
● In what ways we do often end up treating others wrongly as a
result of judgment?
● What’s in a time in your life you’ve experienced judgment? How did it feel?
● What ways can we show honor to others this week?
● In your mind what sort of difference can being a community of
honor in a culture of condemnation make?
PRAY:
Pray in repentance over judgments, and also for opportunities to show honor to others.
RESPOND:
Take an inventory in your journal of ways you’ve judged and seek repentance.
